So I read this (see what I did there....hahahaha) as Fenton is adding players to the Iowa roster. Looks like he should be the 3rd line RW...or 4th line, depending on how many RWs are being developed in IA this year. So now the Wild have to figure out what to do with Olofsson. I can't see the Wild rostering (as that a word?) 23 skaters to start the season. Why park 2 defensemen in the press box. Trading Olofsson to a team that is desperate for D, especially 3rd pairing, would leave the Wild at around $2.4 mil in cap space.
Honestly, I think Fenton has ok'd the right moves to get the Wild into manageable cap territory. I am giving him a pass on the draft this year as 1) he had little time to prepare to know exactly what the Wild needed and 2) can't really make a decision on a drafted player for about 2-3 years. I really believe Fenton has the Wild miles ahead of what Fletcher had them at, comparing both of their first couple of months.
Now if Greenway, Kunin, Sokolov, Kaprizov, Lodnia, McBain, Belpedio, Soucy, Kahkonen and the Johansson Twins (both Filip and Simon) turn out they way they are expected, I see a bright future for the Wild.
Anyone else want some of this Kool-Aid?
